Places to stay

Portugal
In the middle of nowhere, deep deep in the southern Alentejo, miles away from the nearest village lives Carol and she is planting a forest for the grandchildren http://www.forestforthegrandchildren.com/
You can go and help her, look after the forest and general maintenance of the house or just go and stay for a quiet weekend with yourself.

If you like the idea of quiet but a bit more luxurious, then check out Carols neighbours at the Quinta do Barranco da Estrada http://www.paradise-in-portugal.com/   a beautiful family run hotel. You can also find Paradise in Portugal on Workaway, we think.

Another place we have volunteered, still in the Alentejo is the Monte das Hortas. Ida Lotta's winter residency that she rents ot in the summer. A great spot for walks and nosing about in abandoned houses.  http://www.montedashortas.com

Just north of Evora we stayed in this beautiful little campsite, piece and quiet, nature and big stones http://www.bbcamping.eu/
